We don’t have time to enjoy this world. Tomorrow is not promised. I know we think to ourselves how am I supposed to live on earth and not enjoy some of the stuff on it. But we have to realize, if we enjoy it to the point that God is not a constant thought on our minds then we are loving this life more than we are Him. He should be first in everything we say, do and think. We are quick to say God is first in our lives but we have no fruit to show for it. We are quick to say He is the head of our lives but we don’t tell ourselves no to the pleasures of this life. It is a fact that sometimes God will tell us no. Things like tv shows or music or friendships or relationships, places we go, things we do, things we say or think, things we want. Do you love Him enough to do what He says or do you end up loving yourself more than Him and doing what you want anyway? Be honest and ask yourself that! It’s a hard pill to swallow when we realize that a lot of the stuff we do is because we love ourself more than we love Him. Remember the rich man in the Bible.  Are you like him? If God told you no to the fun and enjoyment of this world so you could follow Him would you be sad and walk away? If He told us to not wear that would you be sad and walk away? Modesty is a sign of a circumcised heart. We can be beautiful and not be like everyone else. It’s a heart condition. If He told you not to watch that show anymore would you be sad and walk away from Him or would you turn it off? That was a struggle for me. I was addicted to my shows. But they didn’t bring Him glory in any way so I had to let them go. They were full of sinfulness and they didn’t draw me closer to Him in any way so I didn’t need them! Remember, if something is not for Him it’s against Him! If He told you not do say certain things would you obey?

These things are real. We don’t really grasp the reality of dying to self. The self that wants to hang on the the pleasures of this life. Dying to this stuff is not pleasant. It’s just hard sometimes. These things have such a grasp on us that it’s hard to let them go sometimes. Honest! But, you can do it! Jesus is our hope. The Holy Spirit is our help! It is possible. Are we going to hang on to this world and walk the wide path to hell or are we going to be willing to let these things go so that we may walk the straight and narrow path into eternal rest in His bosom? The choice is ours! Choose this day whom ye will serve!
